GAY PEOPLE'S CHRONICLE

Suede, JUCA are set for the Ohio Lesbian Festival

Columbus-The planning committee for the 2001 Ohio Lesbian Festival is pleased to announce just a few of the performers we have already confirmed for the festival on September 8.

We are proud to announce Suede as our spotlight performer for the night stage. To get some idea of Suede's unique musical talents and abilities you might imagine a cross between Ella Fitzgerald and Bette Midler, throw in a little Rosemary Clooney, and add a dash of Louis Armstrong. This is no girl with a guitar! Suede mixes the sophisticated sounds of pop and jazz, a witty and playful personality, and adds a touch of naughty blues to a voice that will melt your heart.

This consummate performer sings original material along with pop, blues and jazz standards like nobody you've ever heard. Suede will be highlighting music from her just-released CD On The Day We Met, which was recorded live at the Birchmere in Alexandria, Virgina this past November. To learn

Bi Network works to build

NE Ohio bisexual community

Cleveland-Have you ever wondered how to find the bisexual community in Cleveland? Well, we're here to help! Cleveland Bi Network is a new organization specifically dedicated to bi community building and networking in the Cleveland and Northeast Ohio

area.

We are currently collecting information on bi resources in our area, such as 2BDetermined, a biweekly support group at the Cleveland Lesbian-Gay Center, and NE Ohio Wombats, a bi women's mailing list. Current plans focus on a web presence, local resource guide and an e-mail distribution list

for announcements and conversation.

As the community develops, we also hope to build interest in creating local bi events such as Bi Camps, informal weekend camping outings-very relaxing and fun-and perhaps connect bi-folk who are interested in attending other regional events, such as the annual Because conference. For
